Remember all the hype and hoopla about someday being able to use your phone as your credit card, your bus ticket purchases, security door opener et all? Looks like time has passed swiftly coz from what we see, those days are hear already. The Nokia 6131 NFC, although not the most attractive phone is already using such great technology to help you crunch your whole world into your cell phone.

The phone offers pay by touch, touch ticket and other very cool RFID applications inside a conventional phone. Basically they’ve embedded an RFID chip into the top part of the flip lid. Sounds pretty cool, and from the calculated expectations that they have, a lot of us would be using such phones by 2012. Sure, the idea of having all your info and security pins set onto your phone might seem scary to some of us who lose their cell phones almost everytime, and yeah cell phone robbery could get on the rise with this too, but then again the techno-experts would sure bring in some measures to control such issues, wouldn’t they?

I’m excited. I can hardly wait to use one of these. Sure these are already being used in India for some innovative outreach projects, but then we’re talking convenience here and I’m all for it.
