Insulin Pump looks like a Charm Bracelet
Aug 19, 2007 News

Diabetes is not an issue that any device in the world can ease you from; it sure is a lifelong disease but we all know and take comfort in the fact that timely medication and an appropriate diet can make you live life as if you were as hale and hearty as a new born kid.
For those who’d like to make their insulin pumps, however mandatory, look a tad trendy, the researchers at UX week seem to have quite a cool solution.
What they have in mind, is an insulin pump that looks like a charm bracelet which splits up the pump into two wireless linked parts, one part of which would be the insulin supply and glucose sensor contained in an adhesive shell, attached to the user’s abdomen. Similarly the display and control unit would be reduced to a small, thumbdrive-styled device with a touch screen, which could be worn like jewelry around the neck or wrist. Pretty cool I’d say. For one it would rid you off the worry of having to carry those bulky insulin pumps with you all the time, and secondly, it would make you look like someone who truly appreciates the beauty of life and is unstoppable by anything.
All’s great on this one, with the only sad thing being that this is still just an idea and no news of it ever being produced or even designed is out in the open yet. Of course its viability might be a hot topic of debate for the medical researchers, but for you and me, it’s a ray of hope that being unhealthy or sick will someday be quite fine to live with.(NR)
